Russian, likely early 20th century. Faberge (Russian, founded 1842) style 14 karat gold penknife (or pocket knife, pocketknife, flick knife). Penknife with elongated ovoidal form, reeded throughout, with two hinged drop-point blades (one small, one large), with bail. Stamped on knife with 56 indicating 14 karat gold, acid tested as 14k gold quality. Stamped on bail with 56 zolotnik mark indicating 14 karat gold, acid tested as 14k gold quality, with head facing right indicating production after 1908; with additional maker’s mark BC likely for VLADIMIR SOLOVIEV. Overall approximate length including bail 3.125”. Overall approximate width at widest point 0.5”. Approximate length of larger blade from kick 1.5". Approximate length of smaller blade from kick 1". Total approximate weight 17.5 grams.
