Roberto Matta (Chilean/ French/ Italian, 1911-2002). "Untitled Composition: Illustration of a Poem by Alain Bosquet" - 1959, etching and aquatint in colors on bone wove paper laid down on light blue wove paper, limited edition 13/56, pencil numbered lower left on blue sheet, pencil signed lower right on blue sheet. Surrealist print depicting a yellow five-limbed figure resting on four legs at right and pointing toward a cluster of objects in blue and black to the other side of a dashed vertical line at left. Verso of sheet pencil inscribed lower left "R.B.T. Matta 'Montague" (or 'Montague')". Sheet size approximately 13" x 10.625". Plate size approximately 7.25" x 10.375". Note: Another print in this edition resides in the permanent collection of the De Young Museum (San Francisco, California). Artist also known as Roberto Sebastian Antonio Matta Echauren.
