Cavalier (American, founded 1923), circa late 1958. A fully restored Cavalier 'C5 - 96- A' Coca Cola machine which holds 96 bottles in the vending mechanism and offers 12 selections. This machine will accept bottle sizes from the new small 8 oz Coke bottle up to the 12 oz Mexican Coke bottle or any 12oz long neck bottle. Cavalier placed the “S” letter in the model number to denote Multi-Selection Glass Door coin operated machines. The Cavalier “CS” series of Coke Machines were the first machines Cavalier built that featured an electronic coin mechanism. To operate the Cavalier CS-96 Coca Cola Machine, 10 cents was inserted in the coin slot, once the electronic coin mechanism counted the coin, it activated a solenoid which released the bottle mechanism and illuminated the front 'Have a Coke”' emblem. One would then open the glass bottle door and remove the bottle selection. This would then turn the 'Have a Coke' light off. Machine has brass tag on side 'Cavalier Model C 5096-A, Amps 3.9, Serial 288295, 115 volts, 60 cycle A.C., Cavalier Corporation Appliance Division, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
