Atelier de Recherche Plastique aka ARP: Plastic Research Workshop (French, 1954-1957), circa 1955. A figural torchiere floor lamp having composite plastic construction in the form of a male blackamoor holding a gilt metal lamp with glass globe in left hand, right hand resting on knee which is stepping up on a naturalistic rocky base. Marked to the backside 'ARP'. Approximate height 65", base width is 20", depth 13.5".
