English, second quarter 19th century. A metamorphic 'rise and fall' library/serving table or freestanding dumb waiter having a rectangular top with thumb molded edge resting on an arcaded and ribbon twist frieze, rising to activate the sliding action to alter the table into a three tier buffet or dumb waiter, all raised on plank supports joined by a scalloped and foliate carved stretcher and ending on down-scrolled legs carved at the knee with foliage and terminating in scrolled toes. Approximate height extended 41", height resting 30.5", width 38.12", depth 21.12".
