English, 19th century. Renaissance Revival carved and stained oak wood slant front secretary with cornice top above floral and dentilated borders, S scrolls on frieze flanking "A1537D" above hinged glazed astragal doors in front of shelved storage within, above arched open storage on tapered columnar supports, lower section with slant front carved with portraits of royalty including Henry VIII at center, flanked by Elizabeth I and Anne Boleyn, that opens to reveal inset green leather writing surface with gilt and tooled borders, carved pull out drawers within under shaped niches flanking columns on jambs beside hinged door with figural panel of man in hat touching nose, two short pull out drawers above three graduated long drawers--all with scrolled foliates motif and brass bail handles and key escutcheons, overall supported on bracket feet., large brass bail handles on top and bottom sections at sides of case. Approximate height 85.6", width 43.75", depth 21.8". Provenance: The Elephant's Foot, West Palm Beach, Florida whereby acquired by a Private Collection in Atlanta, Georgia.
