French, 17th century. A large and heavy Louis XIII oak wood chest front with carved decoration to front side with six panels of linen fold carving flanking a figural scene at center depicting the Coronation of the Virgin with a floating winged angel holding a crown above the head of a praying Mary, the panel overall exhibiting peg construction. Approximate height 33", width, 71.25", depth 2.125". Provenance: acquired by the Estate of Dr. Woody Cobbs and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia from A. R. Broomer Antiques, New York, in a private sale on March 30, 2000.
