Norwegian, second quarter 19th century. A silver Kugelfubecher or beaker cup on ball feet, likely .830 silver, with chased scrolling foliate decoration on tondo to cylindrical body flanking a medallion to front inscribed "G.G.D. Melby", the whole raised on three ball feet. Underside with impressed city mark for Oslo (Christiania/ Kristiania), assay mark for H. Clausen used between 1824-46, Pisces zodiacal mark indicating assay in the months of February or March, as well as an unknown maker's mark impressed twice. Approximate height 3.5", width across feet approximately 3.25", cup diameter approximately 3.125". Total approximate weight 3.29 troy ounces.
