English, early 19th century. George III style mahogany with satinwood inlay secretaire bookcase having a projecting pediment over a pair glazed doors opening to a silk lined interior with adjustable shelves, each shelf having individually mounted lighting above a slant front opening to a leather inset writing surface and central prospect door opening to a slide out panel revealing a secret hidden compartment underneath and centered by pull out document boxes to each side and flanked by a removable valance over an open interior and four small drawers, all above four graduated and beaded drawers having individual locking mechanisms raised on slightly splayed legs united by a front serpentine apron. The whole decorated with satinwood stringing. Approximate height 97.75", width 45", depth 21".
