German, early 19th century. An unusual large and impressively carved scrimshaw pelvic bone powder flask carved to both broad sides with elaborate boar hunting scenes within twisted rope cartouches reserved on leaf tip fields, the pelvis bone edged in linen attached with nailheads and a pieced L-shaped tapering bone further decorated with overlapping leaf tips. With iron strapwork, tapering spout, and scrolling hardware attaching linen strap to top and long fringe to base and sides. Body structure approximate height 15", width 24", depth 4.5".
