Persian, Likely late 18th/early 19th century. Fine yatagan or yataghan sword with damascus "ribbon" or "watered" patterned steel blade joined to a silvered figural handle with mustached face on pommel above cascading stylized curled hair. Sword with repousse silvered metal scabbard with one side decorated with florals and scrolled foliates, the other with repeating concentric scales, serpent or snake form upper hook, wood lining on interior. Both scabbard and sword unmarked. Approximate length of blade 20.75". Overall approximate length 27".
