Spanish, 16th century. A Renaissance oak three seat choir stall, each section having a molded cornice above a molded downswept armrest and support topped with a female head flanked three hinged seats, each with shaped misericord, sometimes named mercy seat, carved with portrait mask. Approximate height 43", width 76", depth 22.25". Provenance: acquired from Christie's, New York, Rockefeller Plaza, March 31, 2000, Sale 9386 as lot 74 by the Estate of Dr. Woody & Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
