Reading, Pennsylvania redware wall pocket, 19th c. , impressed D.P. Shenfelder, Reading, Pennsylvania , with mask decoration and yellow glaze with green and brown splash, 10 3/4" h., 8 3/4" w. This is a rare use of redware by this potter and probably his finest work extant. Provenance: Sold at Pook & Pook, Inc., April 21, 2007, Lot 567, The Pioneer Americana Collection of Dr. and Mrs. Donald A. Shelley.
