Watercolor Fraktur, attributed to Abraham Kauffman, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, c. 1811-16, the design incorporating a variety of flowers, parrots, peafowl, and a spreadwing eagle, all surrounding a central rectangular reserve with inscription. Provenance: House Sale, Witman's Auctioneers, Lititz, Pennsylvania. Estimate $1,500-2,500 Paper restoration along much of the top and left edges as well as the sunflowers at the lower corners, sheet appears to be rejoined along the center vertical fold. Three repaired c. 1/2 in tears in right edge, three repaired c. 1/2 in. tears and one repaired c. 1 3/4 in. tear in the bottom edge.
