Fraktur Birth Record for Johannes Stotzer, Strasburg, New Jersey, 1751, designed as a double arch flanked by flowers above a central inscription, and lower register centering two clock dials, one with roman numerals, the other arabic numerals, (stains, minor folds, minor damage), 12 1/4 x 15 1/4 in. , framed and matted. Provenance: Richard and Rosemarie Machmer. Literature: Illustrated in Fraktur Folk Art and Family, by Corinne and Russell Earnest, p. 51. Estimate $2,000-4,000 Sheet is backed with tissue to reinforce spits/separations mostly in the horizontal and vertical fold. The upper left and right corners have adhered paper overlays covering earlier decoration. No apparent paper restoration or in-painting.
