Yellow and Black-painted Tambour Lap Desk, probably New England, early 19th century, the tambour section rolls back as the single drawer is opened, with hinged writing surface, inkwell and pen trays, yellow-painted ground with black and gilt bordering, ht. 7, wd. 12, dp. 10 1/4 in. Estimate $300-500 works well, but the tambour starts to stick at the back a bit, repaired crack at upper left side may imply that the tambour was fixed at one time.
