Glazed Yellow Pine Corner Cupboard, 18th century, with molded cornice above two glazed doors opening to three shaped shelves flanked by molded pilasters, set into a lower section with recessed molded door, ht. 82, wd. 60, dp. 26 in. Provenance: Purchased in 1964 from Peter Hill, Washington, DC. It was originally from 2618 K Street, which was razed for an approach to the Whitehurst Freeway. The house had been built about 1795 for Thomas Peter who married George Washington's granddaughter Martha Parke Custis. George Washington was a frequent guest there.
