Late 19th/Early 20th Century. British Colonial style stained hardwood plantation or planter's chair with sloping back and low seat with unusual slatted form, on front turned legs. This style of chair was designed and used in the 19th Century when planters wore high hip boots that took hours to put on. These chairs with swing out foot rests enabled the workers to take their daily siesta, while keeping their boots on. Height 34.5", width 26" (arm to arm), seat depth 18", seat height 16"._x000D_
