Lorinda Epply (1874-1951) for Rookwood Pottery Vase, Cincinnati, Ohio, 1919, white ground with long-stemmed flowers gathered at the shoulder, Rookwood mark for 1919 and form number 1120, incised artist's incised initials "LE," ht. 4 3/4 in. Note: Lorinda Epply attended the Cincinnati Art Academy and studied ceramics at Columbia University. In 1904 she became a decorator, a position she held at the Rookwood Pottery until 1948. She is best known for her soft pastels in Jewel porcelain glaze. Epply also took a course in weaving at Cranbrook Art Academy and later taught weaving.
