Finn Juhl (1912-1989) for Niels Vodder "NV-45" Lounge Chair, Denmark, designed 1945, manufactured c. 1950, sculpted teak, wool upholstery, unmarked, ht. 33, wd. 27, dp. 30 1/2 in. Provenance: Property of a Cambridge, Massachusetts estate. Note: Attributed to Niels Vodder. Later Baker models were made of walnut and have different construction/configuration at the intersection of armrests and rear legs and back supports. The chair was purchased at the same time as a pair of Vodder marked NV-53 Lounge chairs offered in this sale. Finn Juhl was a Danish architect, interior and industrial designer, most well-known for his furniture design. He was one of the leading figures in the creation of "Danish Design" in the 1940s and he was the designer who introduced Danish Modern to America. Estimate $3,000-5,000 Reupholstered and rewebbed. All joints free of damaged and repairs. Some minor loss to underside of the edge of the left armrest. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
