Edward Wormley (1907-1995) for Dunbar Woven-front Sideboard with Hutch, Berne, Indiana, c. 1950, mahogany and aluminum, unmarked, ht. 32, 34 1/2, wd. 61 1/2, 48, dp. 18, 15 in. Note: Edward J. Wormley was an American modern furniture designer. In 1926 he studied briefly at the Art Institute of Chicago and then worked as an interior designer for Marshall Fields & Company. In 1944, while working for Dunbar, Wormley led their Modern focus incorporating European and Scandinavian influences into their lines. The result was furniture that was sophisticated yet mainstream, and very successful. Estimate $1,000-1,500 Restored. Scratch to top surface post-restoration which has been touched up.
