Pair of Straw-glazed Brown Covered Vessels, China, possibly Later Han dynasty, conical deep bowl with a narrow band of concaved shoulder, angled neck, and rolled mouth rim, resting on a short raised foot, the domed cover decorated with a molded chilong roundel in the center, encircled with three mythical birds alternating with three bosses, ht. 6, dia. to 7 3/4 in. Provenance: Mary Andrews Wolff Collection. Estimate $1,200-1,500 one of the cover with long hairline crack from rim, numerous chips and spurmarks.
