Pair of Black Cloisonné Vases, Japan, mid-20th century, cylindrical, decorated with three shishi chasing sacred tama between meander bands around mouth and foot rims, signed "Tamura" (Yukio Tamura) on base, ht. 9 1/2 in. Provenance: Purchased from Orientations Gallery, New York, in 1989. Estimate $1,000-1,200 minor surface wear with fine surface scratches, tarnishing and surface scratches to metal rims.
