School of Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres (French, 1780-1867) Head of a Woman, Study Unsigned. Oil on paper, sight size 10 x 11 7/8 in. (25.2 x 30.0 cm), framed. Condition: Scattered minor retouch, unfinished details of neck and collar sketched in charcoal. Provenance: The Stebbins family collection, Massachusetts. Estimate $400-600 The sheet has conserved and recently backed (see images) to stabilize a presumably brittle sheet and to stabilize tears and losses along the lower edge. There are tiny dots of retouch plus fills to losses at the lower edge. The frame is 12 3/4 x 14 3/4 x 1 1/4 in. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
