Condition: Craquelure. N.B. The names of the horses and their owners are inscribed on the recto of the frame below the image of their respective horse. Pages 140-142 of Joseph Smith Fletcher's 1902 The History of the St. Leger Stakes, 1776-1901 (London: Hutchison & Co.) are affixed to the frame, along with a typed list of the names of the horses and their owners. Estimate $2,000-3,000 The work has an old glue lining, and there may be some old glazes of retouch. The craquelure is stable. The work might benefit from cleaning. The frame is 11 x 31 1/2 x 2 in.
