After Antoine-Louis Barye (French, 1795-1875) Theseus Slaying the Minotaur Stamped "BARYE" and inscribed "Cire Perdue" on the top of the bronze base. Bronze with dark brown patina, probably a posthumous cast, height 18 in. (45.7 cm). Condition: Minor wear to patina, minor dust and dirt to interstices. Provenance: The Stebbins family collection, Massachusetts, acquired from Leonard Baskin in 1988. Barye as reproduced in Pivar, pp. 278-281, lists the Grandeur originale of Thésée Combattand le Minotaure at 46.0 cm, corresponding appropriately to this work.
