Charles Sarka (American, 1879-1960) Tahiti Dancers Signed, inscribed, and dated "SARKA/TAHITI-/1903/MANGAIA/QUEENS/DANCERS" l. l., titled on labels from the Paul Magriel Collection/American Drawings, The American Federation of Arts, New York, and an unidentified partial label, all affixed to the frame backing, and with a label from Bernard Black Gallery, New York, and an ink stamp from the New Britain Museum of American Art, Connecticut, also on the frame backing. Watercolor, pencil, and charcoal on paper, 14 x 18 1/2 in. (35.5 x 47.0 cm), framed. Condition: Laid down on mat, left and right edges unevenly trimmed, losses to u.l. and l.r. corners, scattered repaired tears to edges, stains and adhesive residue to edges, toning, pale foxing, abrasion u.c.
