William and Mary High Chest of Drawers, Massachusetts, c. 1730-50, in two sections, the upper section with two short and three long drawers with matched veneer and herringbone borders surrounded by molded reeding, set into lower case of three short drawers, deeply valanced skirt, and base of trumpet-turned legs and flat stretcher, refinished, (restoration to base and mid-molding), ht. 63 1/4, mid-molding wd. 40, lower case wd. 37 1/4, mid-molding dp. 22, lower case dp. 21 in. Provenance: Property Approved for Deaccession by the Board of Trustees of Historic Deerfield, Inc. Proceeds to the benefit the Museum Collections Fund. Estimate $800-1,200 The legs, stretchers, and feet are replaced, as is the mid-molding. The brasses appear to be old replacements. Two pieces of molding are off, but retained - the upper case right side, and the mid-molding at the left side. There is some minor veneer repair.
