Set of Three Chippendale Carved Mahogany Side Chairs, Massachusetts, c. 1760, with shaped crests terminating in carved ears, pierced splats, trapezoidal slip seats, and cabriole front legs joined to the raking rear legs with block-, vase-, and ring-turned stretchers, (one chair a lighter color), ht. 38, seat ht. 18 in. Provenance: Property Approved for Deaccession by the Board of Trustees of Historic Deerfield, Inc. Proceeds to the benefit the Museum Collections Fund. Estimate $800-1,200 cracks to crest on one chair, one chair re-pinned at top of style, cracks to shoes on others, one a lighter color because it must have been more exposed to light, glue blocking looks mostly good and old, one chair missing a knee return.
