Large Edward Webb Silver Porringer, Boston, c. 1710, the openwork handle engraved "B/AM," "EW" touchmarks on the back of the handle and bottom of the bowl, dia. 5 3/4 in., approx. 7.1 troy oz. Provenance: The Silver Shelf, Ardmore Pennsylvania, 1972. Literature: The porringer is recorded in Patricia E. Kane, Colonial Massachusetts Silversmiths and Jewelers, (New Haven: Yale University Art Gallery, 1998), p. 955. Estimate $800-1,200 Silver solder repair to outer edge of foot, possible engraving removal just above the same area (unobtrusive, silver slightly weaker). Engraving to handle appears to be above a previous monogram. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
