Chippendale Carved Side Chair, Massachusetts, c. 1760-80, the serpentine crest with carved terminals centering a shell device above a pierced splat, on trapezoidal slip seat and beaded rail joining frontal cabriole legs with acanthus-carved knees ending in claw-and-ball feet, ht. 37, seat ht. 17 1/4 in. A Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, Collection Estimate $800-1,200 Front glue blocks are replaced. Front of seat frame has repaired crack at the left side. Legs are full height, but show wear, dings, dents, scrapes from use. Chair is very stable. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
