Rare Chippendale Carved Mahogany Piecrust Tilt-top Tea Table, Boston, c. 1760-80, the shaped and molded top tilts on a fluted, vase- and ring-turned and acanthus-carved post, on tripod base of acanthus-carved cabriole legs ending in elongated claw-and-ball feet with casters, ht. 28 3/4, dia. 31 in. Provenance: A partial jelly label on the underside of the top indicates previous ownership in Hartford, Connecticut, possibly in a residence at 19 Spring Street. Estimate $6,000-8,000 crack in top.
