James Sanford Ellsworth (American, 1802/03-1874) Miniature Portrait of a Boy Holding a Riding Crop in a Wooded Landscape Signed and dated "Sanforth/Ellsworth/1835" l. l. Watercolor on ivory and paper, 4 1/2 x 3 1/8 in., in an eglomise mat and gilt molded frame. Condition: The face and shoulders on ivory laid onto a paper background; the face has a crack and small spots of pigment loss, minor toning on the background. Provenance: The Lucy B.
