Brass- and Exotic Wood-inlaid Mahogany Lyre-base Card Table, New York, c. 1820, the rectangular top with crossbanded edge and rounded corners pivots above a conformingly shaped skirt and well, joined to the shaped pedestal by a frontal brass star-inlaid lyre terminating in a contrasting veneer panel and two leaf-carved posts, the pedestal issuing four acanthus-carved legs ending in hairy paw feet on casters, (imperfections and repair), ht. 29 1/2, wd. 36, dp. 17 3/4 in. Literature: Pictured and discussed in the Newtown Bee, in 1986, in conjunction with the announcement of a Katonah Gallery exhibit featuring "American Furniture from Westchester Collections."
