Harold Weston (American, 1894-1972) Sunset - Upper Ausable Lake. Initialed and dated "W '22" l.l., titled and identified on an unattributed typed label affixed to the backing. Oil on cardboard, sight size 5 x 7 1/2 in., framed (under glass). Condition: Not examined out of frame. N.B. A typed note on the label reads: "The artist, painting a fleeting moment in a canoe, was so absorbed in the turbulence of the clouds, he left too little room for the lake. Some 45 years later, he added a strip of cardboard just 5/16 which greatly enlarged the lake, made a far more effective picture but these alterations reduced value."
