Three-volume Set of Casey's Infantry Tactics, Presented to General Henry Wilson by Major General Silas Casey, c. 1862, leather-bound cover and binding with gold leaf borders and central eagle and stars, marked on the inside of volume one "To./Genl. Henry Wilson,/with the compliments/of Brig. Gen S Casey/U.S. Army," volume two marked "Presented to/Thomas Phipps/by/the Hon. Henry Wilson/U.S. Senate," and volume three marked "From/The/Hon. H Wilson," with an authenticity certificate from PSA/DNA Authentication Services. Note: The army published General Casey's manuals on August 11, 1862, and he probably presented them to Henry Wilson soon after. Wilson was a militia general and a senator from Massachusetts as well as Vice President to Ulysses S. Grant and died in 1875. Estimate $600-800 Some light wear on the corners but in overall good condition. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
