Brigadier General Constant Williams Medal Group with Theodore Roosevelt Signed Commission, c. 1904, a framed case with a pocket watch, picture, McKeever cartridge box, Purple Heart medal, Spanish American War veteran's medals, a commission to Brigadier General signed Theodore Roosevelt, and a Harper's Weekly print of the Battle at Wounded Knee, ht. 38, wd. 32 in. Note: Constant Williams enlisted in the army as a private on July 23, 1861. After the Civil War he fought in the west, and was wounded twice at the Battle of Big Hole in August 1877. He also served in the Spanish American War as a colonel in the 26th Infantry in the Philippines. He retired from military service in 1907.
