Kenneth Frazier (American, 1867-1949) Two Portraits: David Sears and Philip Sears. Both signed and dated "...1915" l.r., inscribed with the sitter's name, age, height, weight, and date of the portrait on the reverse, David's portrait inscribed "Mr. Sears/205 Comth Ave 8E" in pencil on the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 27 x 22 1/4 in., unframed. Condition: Scattered accretions, a few minor losses, minor varnish inconsistencies, surface grime. N.B. The Sears family was among the most elite in Boston. Philip Sears was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives as well as the Massachusetts Senate. He served as a diplomat of the United States on various visits to Africa. David died in 1929 at the young age of 27. Both men, as was tradition for the upper class in Boston, attended Harvard University.
