Albrecht Dürer (German, 1471-1528) Coat of Arms with a Skull, 1503 (Bartsch/Meder/Hollstein, 98). Monogrammed and dated within the plate. Engraving on laid paper, image size 11 7/8 x 8 1/4 in. (30.1 x 20.9 cm), framed. Condition: Strong impression, trimmed along and/or just inside of the borderline, toning, staining and/or fox mark, small nick/loss to corner u.r., small tear to left edge. Estimate $1,000-1,500 The trimming is slightly uneven. Secured to backing mat at corners and several spots along the edges so the verso is not visible. The sheet is a mid- to late-16th century paper.
