Robert Motherwell (American, 1915-1991) Plate Two, from the Africa Suite, 1970, edition of 150 plus proofs, published by Marlborough Graphics, Inc. , New York (Terenzio, 41). Initialed "RM" in pencil l.l., signed in the matrix, numbered "43/150" in pencil l.r., artist's dry stamp l.r., identified on a label from Harcus Krakow Gallery, Boston, affixed to the backing. Screenprint in black and cream with embossed "plate mark" on paper, image size 31 1/2 x 23 5/8 in. (79.9 x 59.9 cm), framed. Condition: Full sheet with deckled edges, floated within the frame, not examined out of frame. Estimate $2,000-3,000 There is gentling cockling to the edges of the sheet. There is a handling crease visible (primarily in raking light) to the lower margin. Although the work has not been removed from the frame there are no other issues to report. The frame measures 42 x 30 1/2 x 1 1/2 in. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
