Harry Jackson (American, 1924-2011) Sacagawea, First Working Model for a Monument by Harry Jackson Signed and dated in paint "© Harry Jackson 1980" on the back hem of the cloak, signed, dated, and numbered "© Harry Jackson 1977/ SAP 14P" incised in the bronze at the back hem of the cloak, with the Wyoming Foundry Studios, Italia, foundry mark and the artist's thumbprint applied just above; titled on the front of the bronze plinth. Painted bronze, height 21 in. (53.3 cm), on a painted bronze plinth. Condition: A few areas of scuffing to the painted surface, dust and dirt to the interstices. Provenance: The collection of Joseph Thomas Alvarez III, California. Estimate $4,000-6,000 Painted bronze plinth with integral presentation plaque conceived as part of the presentation. Height with the plinth is 26 5/8 inches. In this working model, the painted surfaces are left rough, and the areas with scuffing are not intrusive and may be original. The bronze also shows areas of added clay, contributing to the feeling of a work in progress. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
