Corrado Cagli (Italian, 1910-1976) Birds Signed and dated "Cagli 48" in pencil c. r., inscribed "a Joletta con tanto affetto - Corrado - New York 1948" in pencil along lower edge, inscribed "9. to/Adrienne" on an unattributed label affixed to the frame backing. Monotype with hand-coloring on paper, 20 x 13 in. (50.8 x 33.0 cm), framed. Condition: Rippling, toning. Provenance: From the artist to his sister, Jole Cagli Zariski; by descent to the estate of the artist's niece, Vera Zariski DeCola. Estimate $600-800 Frame dimensions: 20 3/4 x 13 3/4 x 1/2 in. The work is currently unframed because its thin wood frame was too small and fragile to support the weight of the glass. It will be offered as unframed, but the original frame, which is currently in parts, will accompany the work. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
