Richard Yarde (American, 1939-2011) Leon and Willa Mae (The Spin) Signed and dated "© R. Yarde '98" in pencil l.r., titled on an appraisal from R. Michelson Galleries, Northampton, Massachusetts. Watercolor and ink on paper, 41 1/2 x 29 1/2 in. (105.4 x 75.0 cm), framed. Condition: Deckled edges, gentle rippling, floated in frame, not examined out of frame. Provenance: Acquired from R. Michelson Galleries, Northampton, Massachusetts, by the current private collection, Maine. Estimate $3,000-5,000 Frame dimensions: 54 1/2 x 41 1/2 x 1 1/4 in. The watercolor was unframed during preview. The work is on BFK RIVES watermarked paper measuring 41 1/2 x 29 3/8 inches. The work is affixed to the back mat with two hinges on the reverse that are located approximately 3 1/2 inches down from the top and 4 1/2 inches in from each side. The sheet has rippling. There are two little droplets of green watercolor in the lower margin at center, and a minor handling crimp there. There are also about three subtle little handling crimps to the side margins. No inscriptions were seen on the reverse, but we could not examine the very top of the reverse due to the placement of the hinges on the back.
