Edouard-Marcel Sandoz (Swiss, 1881-1971) for Haviland Duck Pitcher, Limoges, France, 1920s, porcelain, marked on the head and underside with designer's ink stamp and maker's label, inscribed "ES z" to underside, ht. 6 1/4, wd. 6 1/4, dp. 4 in. Note: Sandoz was a Swiss sculptor best known for depictions of foxes, rabbits, and cats, in bronze, ceramic, and stone. Born in Basel, Switzerland, he moved to Paris in 1908 to study art and remained there for much of his life. Sandoz's long and successful career was marked by his election to the Academy of Fine Arts and bestowment of the title of Commander in the Order of Arts and Letters. Estimate $100-200 Good condition.
