Vladimir Kagan (1927-2016) for Vladimir Kagan Designs Snail Coffee Table, United States, c. 1965, mid-20th century, walnut veneer on plywood base with rectangular glass top, ht. 15, wd. 42, dp. 37 in. Note: Kagan is one of today's most enduring designers of modern furniture with a career that has spanned over fifty-five years. He started designing in 1947 and by the early 1950s, his innovative sculptured furniture created a new look in American furniture. His furniture, inspired by everything from antiques, and nature, to the Bauhaus, emphasizes comfort and functionality. He was inducted in the Interior Designer Hall of Fame in 2009. Estimate $700-900 Good condition. Light scuffs and water stains at bottom and top of base. Two short cracks and small chip at bottom of base. Glass is clean.
