Rare Paul Hudgins (1940-1968) Studio Pottery Covered Jar, Kentucky, 1967, glazed ceramic, ht. 12 1/2, dia. 14 in. Note: Hudgins's early pots include "Berea" in their marks, referring to Berea College, in Kentucky, where he studied from 1962 to 1965. While his work is limited, having died at the age of 28, he was considered by some as one of the great functional potters of the American Movement. He exhibited at the Syracuse Nationals in 1966 and his work is in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian. Estimate $500-700 Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
