Charles Lakofsky (1922-1993) Studio Pottery Chalice, Ohio, United States, 1966, glazed porcelain, wheel-thrown, ht. 5, dia. 5 3/8 in. Note: Lakofsky studied with Arthur Baggs at Ohio State. He was one of the early ceramists to work with high fire translucent porcelain. He also worked in stoneware and earthenware clay bodies. His work is both thrown and hand-built, often combining the two techniques. Lakofsky is known for his original glaze formulas and strict firing regimens. He was a Professor of Art at Bowling Green State University 1948-85. Estimate $100-300 Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
