Percival Lafer (Brazilian, b. 1936) Lounge Chair and Ottoman, Brazil, c. 1965, leather and rosewood, with maker's mark impressed in leather, Lafer SA and Brazil Industries labels, ht. 36, 17, wd. 32, 27, dp. 36, 21 in. Note: Lafer is a contemporary Brazilian furniture maker and pioneer of the Brazilian Modernist movement. He is most famous for his chair and sofa designs, which combine low-profile hardwood structures with plush leather upholstery. The designer currently lives and works in Campos do Jordão, Brazil. Estimate $500-700 Good condition. Leather upholstery in very good condition. No deep scratches, tears or unsewn seams. Leather support straps in good condition. Some dried mold to underside of cushion and straps. Light scuffs to legs. Structurally sound. Items may have wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
