Two Ed Rossbach (1914-2002) Studio Boxes, Berkeley, California, Pacific Rim, c. 1980, woven wood, paint, and rice paper, ht. 8, wd. 7, dp. 7; and Richard Strauss, 1982, newspaper, rice paper, and heat transfer, ht. 9, wd. 12, dp. 12 in. Note: Rossbach was an American fiber artist. He earned a BA in Painting and Design at the University of Washington in 1940, an MA in Art Education from Columbia in 1941, and an MFA in Ceramics and Weaving from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1947. He is best known for his innovative and playful baskets made from nontraditional materials such as plastic and newspaper.
