Diquis Gold Avian Pendant, Costa Rica, c. 800-1500 AD, possibly an eagle, with large round eyes, and downturned beak, small projecting taloned feet, with spread wings, and large flattened triangular tail, a suspension loop at the back, gold content 3.1 grams, at 94%, ht. 7/8, wd. 1 1/8 in. Provenance: Collected by George Washington Goethals (1858-1928), while working on the Panama canal; then by descent through the family..
